News: Another Developer Bites the Dust

Cheadle based independent games developer, Creative Asylum has closed its doors after more than five years.

Cheadle based independent games developer, Creative Asylum has closed its doors after more than five years. The closure is mostly due to the cancellation of a major product that was due for release on PS2 and GameCube, Battlebots. It was decided by THQ, the publisher, to cancel the game, based on the popular TV series with the same name, just weeks before its release.

Creative Asylums' team of eight staff are seeking new employment, though intend to stay in the games industry.

"We are very sad to see the end of something which we have all put a great deal of our lives into. We have greatly enjoyed the past 5 years working together as a team, and are extremely proud of the contribution we have made in our own small way to the gaming world." says Gary Switzer, Artist and Director.

Most of you will know how tough it is to see dreams fade away. We at Cube-Europe wish it would have turned out differently for Creative Asylum.
