News: Aonuma Discusses a 3D Link to the Past

Shigeru Miyamoto has recently talked about going back to the 2D Zelda games.

Since its launch earlier in the year The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D has sold phenomenally well, which has led to many fans asking if any of the other games would get remade for the Nintendo 3DS. While Majora's Mask has been the top of some people's wish lists a new interview with Eiji Aonuma has put A Link to the Past on the radar.

Gamesradar chatted to Eiji Aonuma recently and he stated that Shigeru Miyamoto has been looking at the 2D Zelda titles again recently. The SNES classic A Link to the Past was mentioned in particular:

"Well actually, even Mr. Miyamoto himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games, in particular the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds. That's something that might be interesting to do, so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future."

This is of course far from confirmation but it is interesting that these conversations are happening. Eiji Aonuma did confirm last week that an original Zelda title is in development for the Nintendo 3DS. As always we'll keep you updated with information.
