Series director Eiji Aonuma has revealed he has no immediate plans to cease heading the Zelda franchise.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will no doubt still be millions of gamers' favorite ever video game. Well, it seems someone special may agree with the masses. Zelda uncle, Eiji Aonuma recently participated in an in-depth interview with US magazine Nintendo Power about his own role in the future of the most cherished franchise ever conceived.
I'm happy that a title I worked on some time ago remains highly praised to this day, but that also shows how none of the subsequent games in the series have surpassed it. As someone who is still working on the series, I have mixed feelings about that. Because I haven't yet surpassed it, I can't quit. Surprisingly, that simply motivation may be the reason I continue to work on the Zelda series."
Aonuma's breakthrough came when he grabbed the opportunity to become Assistant Director on Ocarina and has since acted as the Lead Director on every main Zelda game to date.
To aim top the best is some motivation, but is it possible to overthrow the highest rated video game ever in the near future?
