iPod Touch and iPhone to rival the DS for handheld gaming?
Who'd have thought it, a suggestion that the DS could be derailed by Apple? Well, your worst fears could be about to become a reality according to a new report by well-respected business website Forbes. In the report, a prediction was made suggesting that on Monday, Apple's big cheese Steve Jobs will announce the App Store, which will allow developers to 'pour software into the iPhone and iPod Touch.
It goes on to say that Apple has long been the leader of all things involving innovation, having beaten Nintendo to the finish line with touch-screen interfaces and motion-sensing. Earlier this year, Apple detailed its software development kit for the two aforementioned systems, with Forbes citing Super Monkey Ball as an impressive demo. Much like in the Wii version, players will be able to tilt the iPhone to move the awesome monkeys through the worlds think of the iPhone being a Wii Remote with a screen attached and you'll get a good idea. It's also outright obvious why this would place Apple a step above Nintendo in the handheld gaming market.
This isn't to say we're about to see the DS be overturned and knocked to the ground with no mercy, but you'd better watch out Nintendo you've got fierce competition on your back!
