News: Are The Japanese Interested in Wii U?

It would seem they're not overly keen according to a recent survey carried out by gaming publication Famitsu.

A highly commended gaming publication from Japan, Famitsu, recently carried out a survey to find out what Japanese consumers think about the Wii U. Whilst the results weren't terrible, they weren't fantastic either.

The results showed that 38.3 percent of readers had a good impression of the Wii U after E3 whilst 33.7 percent did not have a good impression. The remaining 28 percent were currently undecided or just not interested in the console.

22.5 percent didn't like the consoles name. It has been said by various people that including 'Wii' in the name was one of the defining reasons as to why so many people were confused at the time and thought it was merely a new controller for the current Wii console.

Of the 28 percent of people who were undecided, a lot of them stated that they like the console's potential but need to have more information about the console whilst others thought the Wii U seemed like a 'minor upgrade' to the current Wii.

Some may think that taking out this kind of survey is far too early, especially considering the little information we know about the console but it's interesting to gauge the current interest nonetheless.

Famitsu also spoke to numerous developers who were universally positive about the console. What do you think of the results of the survey and what are your thoughts of the Wii U? Voice your opinions below.
