News.com has the latest hardware sales figures for the home console war being fought down in the Pacific, with Nintendo's Wii now topping 80,000 units sold since December. This is still only half that of the Xbox 360, which has sold 160,000 consoles since its launch just over a year ago, though its lead is now narrowing.

The recently launched PlayStation 3 has sold through a respectable 36,000 since its launch on March 23rd, though failed to break the fastest-selling console record, originally held by the 360 before the Wii topped it with an astounding 32,000 units sold in just four days.
