News: Backtrack On Brawl Date?

One of the those involved in yesterday's Smash Bros. Brawl release date news has commented on the implied Autumn date.
Shane Bettanhausen probably didn't realise how far his comments about the release date of Brawl would affect European fans, eagerly awaiting the game. After implying that the game would not see European release until Autumn, he has posted a blog entry commenting on the matter.
"I do feel the need to clarify some statements that I made on last Friday's 1up Yours podcast relating to Nintendo's European release dates. Especially after some random Euro sites latched onto my semi-incoherent ramblings as grounds for a news story. Yikes!"
Well, that's what happens when you say stuff like that. To cut a long story short, Bettanhausen goes on to re-affirm that neither Nintendo nor the company's president Reggie Fils-Aime have officially announced a date. Reggie did state that the release date had been pushed out of the Spring timeframe due to the usual European localisation/translation issues, but did not specify exactly when it would be released, other than it would be later than the U.S.
"This whole release date thing has turned into a hugely out-of-control brouhaha, and for that I'm sorry! It was a long week, a long podcast, and I'd likely downed a stiff drink beforehand. Can you find it in your hearts to forgive me?
