Marvelous has announced that a new Wii Balance Board compatible horror game is in the works. Yes, you read that correctly.

Since its release several years ago the Wii Balance Board has mostly been used for exercise and movement based titles such as Wii Fit, We Ski and Super Monkey Ball Step and Roll. Marvelous, the developers behind the popular Harvest Moon series, has announced a new horror title that will support the Wii Balance Board.

Ikenie no Yoru, translated as Night of the Sacrifice, is a horror title set around a place known as Tsukuyomi Canyon, haunted due to past human sacrifices according to local lore. Five college students visit the canyon during a vacation and it all goes terribly wrong.

The Wii Remote will be used as a flashlight in the game but unfortunately the way in which the Wii Balance Board is used is not mentioned in the Famitsu article according to 1UP. The title is due for release in Japan on March 24th so expect more information to follow but for now check out the attached trailer or the screenshots in the game's gallery.
