News: Baten Kaitos II Headed To Cube!

Baten Kaitos is getting a Cube-based prequel! Fans of the game rejoice, and head inside for the game's full title!

Very good news for fans of Namco's card-based battling RPG - according to the latest Famitsu, the game will see a sequel on Cube! The game is currently being called Baten Kaitos II: Hajimari No Tsubasa to Kamigami No Shishi, which translates (roughly) to: Baten Kaitos II: Wings of the Beginning and the Heir to the Gods.

To clarify - this is apparently a separate title to the upcoming DS game in the franchise (whether that's a spinoff, sequel or a version of the original, we're not sure).

As for this new Cube-based sequel, we hope to bring you the first news and screens from TGS this weekend. There's no real solid details, though we expect it to retain the Magnus card battling system of its predecessor. Whether the same characters will return remains unsure.

The game is apparently on its way for a December launch this year in Japan, so we should be able to bring you news very soon. Interestingly, Nintendo are stepping in to market the game in Japan. More as we get it.

Updated! We've got the first screens from the new title taken from Famitsu! The game is a prequel, set 20 years before the original. The main characters - two deadly assassins called Sagi and Milly - will bump into characters and places from the first game, as well as meet plenty of new faces and explore all new lands. Have a look at some screens for yourself below (is that Lyude in the first screen on the top right of the first page?)
