Watch Doctor Who and Eastenders on your Wii? Oh yes...

Here's some news which we know will make many UK Wii users very happy. Point your Internet Channel on your Wii to www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer, and from today British Wii owners can watch play BBC iPlayer programmes directly on their Wii. It's like watching the show on TV in the first place, but whenever you want.

Interestingly, the BBC have stated that though the iPlayer needs to be run through the Internet Channel at present, it is looking to later get the iPlayer on the Wii without this. An iPlayer Channel maybe? Awesome stuff.

The BBC state that the service is still in beta, and that further tweaks to video encoding rates etc. will probably happen over the coming weeks.
