News: BBC iPlayer Optimised For Wii

The BBC have launched a new version of the iPlayer for use on the Wii...

The BBC's iPlayer (that lets British users stream BBC TV shows online) was originally made available for the Wii back in April, but featured some rather fiddly controls and dodgy quality.

Despite unofficial versions trying to correct the controls, the BBC have now launched their own, chunkier button version which is a lot easier on the eyes and the Wiimote. It also plays videos in full-screen by default.

The downside? The BBC still has yet to address the streaming codec issues, which often make for stuttering playback. All in good time, we suppose.

To check out the new look, head to the usual iPlayer site from your Wii, or www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bigscreen from your computer.
