News: BBC iPlayer Sees Wii Boost

Wii and PS3 iPlayer improvements see a huge boost in usage for the BBC's on-demand service!

The release of the new iPlayer Channel for Wii users in the UK (plus improvements to the existing PS3 service) have seen the number of people using the BBC iPlayer service rocket up by 74 percent during the month of December.

New figures released by the Beeb show that one in every eight requests now comes from people using a games console, as opposed to a PC or Mac. The iPlayer has recently served its 100 millionth programme to users, who can catch up with hundreds of recent BBC television and radio shows on the service.

December was also a strong month of programming, as the BBC traditionally transmits its most popular shows around Christmas time. Hands-up who watched the Doctor Who finale again on iPlayer? (Come back David Tennant, we miss you!)
