News: BBC To Air 'Videogame Addiction' Show

BBC's investigative series Panorama is to air an episode titled 'Addicted to Games?' next week.

Panorama has never tried to shy away from potentially controversial or unpopular areas, even recently being accused of losing England their World Cup bid. Their next episode, due to air on Monday 6th December, will explore how children can apparently play up to 21 hours a day.

Gamers have already voiced their concern, worried that the show will simply try and scrutinise the video game industry and accuse gamers of numerous things they've been charged with before. While the BBC has stated that the show will surprise gamers the trailer, found below, suggests otherwise.

The official description for the show, taken from MCV, also seems to suggest that the report will not paint gamers in a favourable light. We'll have a report of the show when it airs next week.

“As pester power kicks in and the computer games' industry launches its latest products on to the Christmas market, Panorama hears from youngsters who've dropped out of school and university to play games for anything up to 21 hours a day. They describe their obsessive gaming as an addiction. Reporter Raphael Rowe, meets leading experts calling for more independent research into this controversial subject, and reveals the hidden psychological devices in games that are designed to keep us coming back for more.”
