Nintendo's advertising is hitting the internet soon, and in a big way, according to their product manager.
Worried that Nintendo's traditional of meek marketing will hinder the Wii? You probably shouldn't be. Speaking to the New Media Age trade about the upcoming campaign for Nintendo's unconventional new hardware, Rob Lowe, product manager for Nintendo's home consoles division, has revealed that "in terms of online our spend is way more than anything we've ever done before". The budget for television, online and sampling is "between 10 and 11million", a sizeable proportion on which will go to the web.
The usual assortment of web portals - Yahoo, MSN etc. - will be targeted by the oddly-titled 'Wii Move You' campaign. "Particularly over the launch week we'll completely take them over you'll go online and see Wii everywhere," Lowe promises. It's good, if not surprising news, and if Nintendo are reading, do note the ad banners here at N-Europe. We'll graciously accept your money.
