Natsume recently hosted a Facebook Q&A in which fans could ask the developers of Harvest Moon questions. Currently they have only answered a few but they did reveal which title sold the most.

While they acknowledge that fans tend to debate between Harvest Moon 64 and Harvest Moon: Back to Nature for the 'most popular' crown the title that sold most is Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Sales of the GameCube title, originally released in Japan in 2003, have nearly been matched by other titles but none have beat it.
