News: Black Ops Angers Cuban Media

State-run publication describes new first-person shooter as "doubly perverse"...

Despite being on sale for no more than a couple of days, Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops is already causing something of an international stir.

The state-run publication Cuba Debate has published an article criticising the levels of violence in the Treyarch-developed game, taking issue in particular with a mission that involves the player attempting to assassinate former Cuban president Fidel Castro.

A rough and ready translation of the article has the author describing the game as "doubly perverse", and that "first, it glorifies the attacks illegally planned by the United States government against the Cuban leader. On the other hand, it encourages sociopathic attitudes of American children and adolescents, the main consumers of these virtual games."

Neither Activision nor Treyarch have responded to the claims.
