There's a lot of love flying about lately. This time, it's Buena Vista Games.
Buena Vista Games have recently announced that they will be creating a studio, solely for the purpose of creating games for Nintendo systems.
The Salt Lake City-based studio, dubbed Fall Line Studio, will develop games based on Disney characters, TV shows and other properties, as well as games based on new IP, specifically for the Wii and DS. Fall Line will act as a sister studio to BVG's Avalanche Software, which is also located in Salt Lake City.
Ultimately, this will mean more games will be created for a greater audience. Although these games will not appeal to everyone, they will appeal to one specific type of consumer. Range is a wonderful thing.
During recent years, the Playstation 2 was the home to the widest range of games. A console needs a vast amount of titles spread over different genres if it needs to stay at the top. Could the Wii be aiming to recreate the success Sony had with their system? I think that's the general idea, but only time will tell if this comes to be.
