News: Capcom Shuts Down Tokyo Studio

Capcom has shut down its' Tokyo development studio.

Today, Capcom announced the closure of its' development studio in Tokyo, this goes on against the backdrop of a major overhaul by the company and the re-organisation of its' assets and teams.

The most well-known team of developers that are affected by these changes are the "Sixth" production studio. While most of the major operations remain unaffected by this re-shuffling -based as they are in the company HQ in Osaka, the Sixth production studio was most famous for the creation of last years' "Chaos Legion" -a fairly forgettable adventure game on the PS2.

Other areas affected are the in-house PC development studio and development studios in Nagoya. There is no word on how this will affect the production of Gamecube titles, and in the short term there are no forseeable side-effects for Nintendo or Gamecube games in production.
