Was Tatsunoko vs. Capcom a success or a failure? Find out what the publisher had to say...
We were just as surprised as the next anime-ignorant bozo when it was confirmed Tatsunoko vs. Capcom would be heading to the west not only with its wacky, Japanese charm intact, but also with a host of new characters and a sweet online interface. Yet we still imagined it would be a title too crazy for its own good, and struggle to latch onto a significant audience outside of Japan.
But it looks like Capcom are happy with the game's performance. Speaking to Destructoid, Community Manager Seth Killian outlined the company's content.
[Tatsunoko Vs Capcom] certainly beat the initial expectations. It didn't set any land speed records, but it was a success. And that's really saying something considering that we're talking about a game that was not only never coming out, but has a title that most people can't even pronounce.
It's certainly nice to see an unexpected success story, especially with a quality game such as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. While it doesn't look like Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is heading to Wii any time soon, perhaps we could dare to hold out for a follow-up to Eighting's beat 'em up.
