The publisher lists its expectations for its major holiday 3DS title, and reveals sales for The Mercenaries 3D...
It's not just Nintendo disclosing its half-year sales digest - the numbers are being broken down at Capcom, and the publisher has revealed its sales targets for what it sees to be its biggest games.
When it comes to Nintendo platforms, that category only includes a single title. Monster Hunter Tri G is due to set Japanese charts ablaze when it releases close to Christmas, and Capcom has forecasted sales of 1.2 million copies by the end of the fiscal year in March. Ambitious for a game whose platform has only just crossed the 2 million mark in Japan? Or conservative for a franchise that never fails to cook up a commercial storm in the region?
A point to note is that Capcom did not include sales forecasts for its other 3DS blockbuster, Resident Evil: Revelations, which is due out worldwide early in 2012. One possibility is that Capcom is not expecting Revelations to pass into the million-seller club.
In related news, the publisher also confirmed that its earlier 3DS Resident Evil title, The Mercenaries 3D, has sold over 400,000 units worldwide since its release this summer. Capcom recently stated that the arcade shooter had "performed solidly" relative to expectations.
