News: Capcoms Japanese fiscal year plans

Capcom are throwing their weight behind PS2 and Gamecube this fiscal year in Japan, with high expected sales.

The Japanese giant are planning to release 36 games in this fiscal year (April 2002 to March 2003) with 22 PS2 games, 9 Gamecube games and 5 for Xbox. They are expecting sales of 8,750,000 for PS2 software, 3,200,000 for GameCube software and 600,000 for Xbox.

Capcom are expecting a strong response to the much-awaited Resident Evil prequel, Resident Evil 0, unlike the original remake that has had slow sales in Japan (selling only around 200,000, half of the shipped amount). The company is expecting to turn sales around with shipments of 1,170,000 units of Resident Evil 0 through the fiscal year.
