News: Capucine Announced For Wii

A small French Development team has announced that they are working on a Wii game. Info and screenshots inside...

The small French development NoCulture, and from the look at staff emails, is certainly a small company. Aimed at both adults and young adults, they have announced a Wii-exclusive game by the name of Capucine.

Based on the "fight" between shadow and light, Capucine lets you explore a future where everything is dead. You play as a small child, who hold a Capucine flower, which lets her explore this barren world devoid of animals and humans (plants still exist, though). As with most flowers, the Capucine flower needs water, so keeping close to water will be vital to your survival. Be for the watch for shadows, too. Animated shadows will prevent the small child (a girl) from reviving the world by stealing the Capucine flower.

The 8-year-old girl (who herself is called Capucine) who can shoot a beam of light from her right hand. This beam is used to reanimate the surroundings, while has the unfortunate effect of creating shadow enemies. The game will be focused around creating life, rather than fighting enemies. This creates the unique point that the player creates their own enemies, rather than having a bunch of pre-set enemies to contend with.

Details on release date and cost is currently unknown, but the game will be a Wii-exclusive (due to the low cost of the Wii Development Unit). You can also check out the official website to listen to some of the game's music. Be sure to check out screenshots below:

After contacting the developers about the game, it turns out that the game is "would-be" Wii game and the site is a "would-be" site. The game itself is a total conversion mod of the PC game FarCry, and uses the Wii Remote connected to the PC via a bluetooth dongle. The site itself seems to be created as part of the project, as a kind of "this would be our site if the game was on the Wii." The exact response was:

"Capucine is our final-study's project (the prototype of what would be the final game), so for the moment it's a Farcry'mod using Wiimote on PC, in order that as students we don't have Wii devkit. But maybe we'll find an editor...

Yohan Cazaux"
