News: Casino Royale Is A No Go

No Bond title until 2008!

Bond titles have been hitting consoles since the 8bit consoles, but it was the N64 title,Goldeneye, which really got the ball well and truely rolling. So far, it has set the bar high for the standard we should expect from Bond games. Saying that, a lot of the current generation Bond titles have been greeted with mixed criticism, and they are not to everyone's taste.

When Activision attained the rights to develop and publish Bond titles, and with new film "Casino Royale" on the way, it was thought that Activision would make a game based on this movie. However, it appears that this is not the case.

It has just come to light that Activision will not have exclusive rights to the Bond franchise until September 2007. Rather than develop a game and release it more than a year later after the film's release, Activision has done the smart thing and decided to plan ahead. Instead, they will work on the next Bond title, after Casino Royale, scheduled for release in May, 2008.

We will bring you details on this, as well as other titles in the pipeline from Activision, as soon as information comes in.
