Recently, we reported at Cube-Europe that MediaQuest of Japan are porting Alfa System's sequel of the NAOMI based arcade shooter Shikigami no Shiro (Castle of Shikigami) to the Nintendo GameCube. The game was previsously planned to be released on the Xbox only, but after a poll on Alfa System's website, which revealed overwhelming support for the title to appear on GameCube hardware, the company decided to release it on Nintendo's hardware.
The game is slated for an October 24 release in Japan for 6800 Yen, with the Xbox version still being released in small mailorder quantities.
The game will also feature a rich story conveyed though in-game conversations and anime-styled visuals. The first installment in the series was published by XS Games stateside on the PS2 under the moniker of Mobile Light Force II.
Thanks to our affiliates GC Advanced, we can report that Alfa System will be launching an official website for the GameCube version of Castle of Shikigami 2 in late August. No word yet on a western release.
Similar titles for the GameCube are Ikaruga and Star Soldier. Of the latter we have a video preview, which will give you an idea of the style of the game: Star Soldier Video Preview.
