Nintendo US Chief Reggie Fils-Aime says that cheap disposable smartphone games are one of the biggest problems for Nintendo today.
Mobile games such as Angry Birds have been a phenomenon with those who have little time and money to spend on gaming.
Speaking to Gametrailers, Mr Fils-Aime was questioned whether 3DS games provide good value compared to the inexpensive App Store downloads.
He said: "I actually think that one of the biggest risks today in our industry are these inexpensive games that are candidly disposable from a consumer standpoint".
Reggie highlighted Angry Birds as a diamond in the rough, creating unrealistic expectations from consumers when it comes to the price of a game.
"Angry Birds is a great piece of experience but that is one compared to thousands of other pieces of content that for one or two dollars I think actually create a mentality for the consumer that a piece of gaming content should only be two dollars.
"I actually think some of those games are overpriced at one or two dollars but that's a whole different story".
3DS titles are currently expected to retail for around 34.99 on the High Street, with online retailers offering them for around 5 less.
