Nintendo has confirmed that the much-discussed attachment is indeed real and due out in Japan this December.
Last week's issue of Famitsu magazine unveiled a brand new attachment for the Nintendo 3DS, one that would give it a second circle pad. This quickly led to a lot of debate, discussion and interpretation and now Nintendo has officially confirmed that it will be launched in Japan later this year.
While the attachment was not discussed on stage during today's conference the console's hardware page did get updated today and Andriasang has provided the information. The expansion is due to hit Japanese shelves on December 10th alongside Monster Hunter 3G. It will retail for 1,500 Yen, roughly 12/14, and requires one AAA battery to run.
Nintendo confirmed that the device will only work for certain compatible titles, which will feature an icon on retail boxes in the future indicating it is compatible. So far the following titles have been confirmed as compatible with the attachment: Monster Hunter 3G, Resident Evil Revelations, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors VS and Kingdom Hearts 3D.
Nintendo of America commented on the attachment last week, merely confirming that they were aware it existed, so we will assume that Nintendo's other divisions will soon announce release plans of their own. Stay tuned for updates.
