News: Confirmed - XBox is Crappy
Posted 05 Mar 2002 at 17:09 by Tim Symons
After the launch of the Xbox in Japan, there were reports of users experiencing problems with their Xbox hardware that would cause small scratches to appear on the outside edges of DVDs and audio CDs. The Xbox division of Microsoft Japan has released an official statement on the issue that says the scratches are caused by natural friction that occurs when the disc is in the drive, but it shouldn't damage the discs to the extent that they can no longer be used. Microsoft said it would still repair or exchange Xboxes that cease to function entirely.
In short Microsoft says that if your cd gets screwed up by the XBox you have to deal with it yourself. But if the console (if we can still call that) cease to function entirely they will repair it for you.
CEASES TO FUNCTION ENTIRELY?? It makes you wonder...
Thanks to Schpickles at the C-E forums for the heads up!
