News: Consumers Not Ready For On-Line Gaming

George Harrison suggests the GameCube won't go on-line.

In a recent interview with the Puget Sound Business Journal, Harrison - VP of Marketing, NOA, strongly suggested that the GameCube will not go on-line, he did however point out the company was looking into it for their next machine.

During his interview Harrison had the following to say, "We just don't believe consumers are ready for [online gaming]. Right now, no one's paying for subscriptions. The real test comes when you have to start coughing up $15 a month". He also stated it was a "consideration" for Nintendo and that the company is "looking into it for the next iteration of the GameCube"

This will obviously come as a great dissapointment for those who were looking forward to playing their GameCubes on-line, although nothing is set in stone and Nintendo will no doubt be ready to change their plans should anything change.
