News: Contra, Dictionary Hit WiiWare/DSiWare

Brush up on your language skills and kill things in this week's European download update!

There's not much on offer in this week's European Nintendo download service update. Not only has the Virtual Console been snubbed completely, but there's only one WiiWare game and one DSiWare game to choose from - and we don't even think the latter counts as a game.

Contra ReBirth is this week's big WiiWare title, as we reported last night. Following the success of Mega Man 9, Konami have resurrected one of their own fan-favourite franchises and given Contra a new lease of life on the Wii. Harking back to its 16-bit predecessors in terms of the graphical, aural and gameplay departments, expect lots of running, shooting, and killing. We love the smell of retro in the morning. This'll set you back just 1,000 Wii Points.

On DSiWare, Nintendo bring us Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function, which is not just a dictionary, but a dictionary with a camera function! You can use this software to translate thousands of words into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese. However, there's a nifty little function which allows you to take a picture of a word, say, in a magazine, a book, or on a sign, and the software will instantly translate it. You can brush up on your linguistics for 800 Nintendo Points.

Are you tempted by either of these downloadable offerings? Let us know in the comments below.
