Konami announced a new Contra is coming to WiiWare! Fans rejoice!

There aren't a lot of details yet, but Konami just revealed the next game in the Contra series: Contra Rebirth for WiiWare!

Let's attack aggressively!

It isn't known if the developer is WayForward, who developed Contra 4 for DS or any other team and it's also unclear if it's just a remake or a mix of both old and new, although the Japanese website refers to Contra Rebirth as a new game.

Japanese players can download the game for 1000 Wii Points in just 4 days on the 12th of May and Control Bill Rizer from the original game or play in local co-op, just like in the original Contra!
