News: DanceDanceRevolution Coming to Wii

Konami are set to revive the popular dancing franchise DanceDanceRevolution on the Wii that is set to make use of the Wii's unique interactive capabilities.

DanceDanceRevolution hit arcades in 1998 and since then has appeared on many consoles, although in recent years it has faced stiff competition from titles such as Just Dance. Konami are now bringing the series to the Wii and plan to make full use of the console's abilities.

The new title will feature an all-new Choreograph Mode, over 30 tracks and "enhanced multiplayer capabilities" that allow for up to four players to join in. DanceDanceRevolution will make use of the Wii Balance Board but the official press release also states it will get players "back on the mat", so it is probable that it will utilise both inputs. In addition to this the Wii Remote and Nunchuck will be used within the Choreography Mode to fully immerse players within the dancing experience.

“DanceDanceRevolution is back and better than ever, combining entertaining and physically engaging gameplay with all of Nintendo Wii’s interactive capabilities,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “The newest addition to the DanceDanceRevolution family will offer fans the complete DanceDanceRevolution package full of movement, fitness and fun.”
