News: Darkness Sequel Possible

Could second-party defectors Silicon Knights still make a sequel to Eternal Darkness? The answer looks rather like a yes...

Writing on IGN, Silicon Knight's Dennis Dyack has stated that "absolutely yes", there were sequels to the GameCube gothic survival-horror Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem in mind. Released back in 2002, the title had an innovative 'sanity system', where by players would have to remain sane or face various strange game effects as your character slowly slipped into lunacy.

"When creating an original game we start by conceptualizing an entire universe. Once the universe is conceptualized we then tell a story within that world ... Although (the first Eternal Darkness) is just one story we had in mind for the Eternal Darkness universe, there are even more manipulations, great ancients, and numerous other stories to tell..."

What console a sequel might appear on is up for debate, though SK's spiritual home at the moment seems away from Nintendo. Who knows what the future holds, however...
