Datel have announced the MAX Media Player - the latest in a new range of add-ons for the DS, which include a flash card launcher and a mic/headset. All you need to do for the Player to work is insert its cartridge into the DS' game card slot and boot up the browser. From here, you can play MP3s, watch videos and view your JPEGs. The browser also apparently works with executable programs!
Media is stored with a supplied 4GB hard drive unit, which you plug into the GBA cartridge slot. The HD draws its power directly from the DS no additional batteries are needed. Data can be transfered from a PC by USB, where movies are automatically converted to a format your MAX Media Player can understand, and digital images are resized so they fit perfectly on the DS screen.
The device should be out by the end of the month, though it does come at a price - around 129/$189.99.
