News: David Braben Slams UK Gaming Degrees

David Braben, founder of Frontier Developments and legendary space title Elite has criticised British gaming degrees.
Highly respected in the industry, David Braben has been working as a programmer and developer for many years now. Having recently overseen LostWinds for Wiiware as the executive producer, Braben also has a lot to say in regards to British games degrees.
Speaking to the BBC, Braben claimed that many developers are finding it increasingly difficult to find UK graduates looking to enter the industry.
"95% of video gaming degrees are simply not fit for purpose," Braben told the BBC. "Without some sort of common standard, like Skillset accreditation, these degrees are a waste of time for all concerned."
Having recently listened to Mr. Braben commenting on such an issue at Nottingham's Games City event, N-Europe can confirm that he feels this way due to a death of maths, physics and computer science graduates.
The British Government recently stated that they would investigate and try to support the UK's games industry, but it is unclear as to whether it will affect the areas which Braben is concerned with.
Feel free to comment below with your opinions of the UK industry. Will we ever see the success of the 80's and early 90's again, or do studios such as Rockstar and Codemasters maintain hope for the British industry's future?
