News: Dead Space Comes To Wii

EA Games have confirmed at a conference call that atmospheric PS3 and 360 horror title Dead Space will be coming to the Wii this year.

EA CEO John Riccitiello has confirmed at a conference call for EA's third quarter fiscal earnings that the Wii is set to receive a version of Dead Space, a sci-fi survival horror game developed by EA Redwood Shores and released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last October.

Says Mr. Riccitiello on the exciting new announcement:

"We're bringing core intellectual property to the Wii. Wii is the market leader -- they're getting half of our emphasis in terms of title count. [Dead Space for the Wii] is absolutely going to be the quality of fear factor of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions."

It was noted that Dead Space will be released at some point in the next year.

No further details were released regarding whether or not the title would be a port of the existing versions, or a brand new installment in the franchise. However, IGN have noted that they have heard that Dead Space for the Wii will be an entirely new game which makes full use of the Wii Remote.

Dead Space sees you in the shoes of space engineer Isaac Clarke, who is fighting for his life aboard a mining vessel crawling with an alien virus, which manifests in humans and can reanimate corpses to use them for evil purposes. The game was apparently cited as one of EA's major earners for the winter, and the news of a Wii release should satisfy console owners yearning for more mature titles such as MadWorld, House of the Dead: OVERKILL and, with any luck, Winter.

Finally, we'd like to point out that shortly after E3, Mr. Riccitiello made a comment in regards to the MotionPlus attachment, saying that Dead Space on the Wii with improved precision could be a good experience. Just some food for thought.
