News: Director Comments On DS Pokémon Sequel

The game's director shares some musings on DS Wi-Fi Connection support in the next big Pokémon RPG.

In his online diary, Pokémon Diamond/Pearl director Junichi Masuda expressed his expectations for the evolving online component of the hotly anticipated monster collecting/battling sequel. Specifically, Masuda shares that his teams hope to integrate full support for online worldwide battles and communication functions. Additionally, he teases that the game will utilize every capability that the DS provides.

While these plans may seem a no-brainer, it is nice to hear official comments stating as much. The DS certainly seems an ideal vessel as a Pokédex: imagine having information laid out over the dual screens while the handheld speaks as in the TV show. And no doubt the prospect of actually calling a Pokémon out to battle by voicing its name has many fans smiling.

Don't get too excited however: Masuda also pointed out that the game has a long way to go before its reaches the hands of aspiring monster trainers around the world. Rest assured R-E will be there with any new information on the games as we recieve it.
