News: 'Disappointing' Sales For Wii Music & AC:CF

Nintendo concede that sales of Wii Music and Animal Crossing have not met expectations.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has commented on the sales of the big two Winter titles for last year, and conceded that things have not gone as planned. Speaking of the Japanese market, Iwata commented that the end of year sales season had a slow start and "did not live up to our expectations." Said Iwata:

"I agree that Wii Music, as of now, has not achieved its true potential. On the other hand, I feel that Wii Music is a software that elicits largely two extremely different reaction from consumers. There are people who highly appreciate it and those who do not appreciate it at all."

For both Wii Music and Animal Crossing, Iwata says that: "what happened at the end of last year in Japan was simply that it did not go as we had planned." But he is quick to comment that even though this is the case, sales figures are "nowhere" near that of "failing software." The company just had extremely high sales expectations which were not met.

With the two titles seemingly rejected by many, should Nintendo change tack? Let us know your thoughts below...
