Following several leaks and a barrage of screenshots, Nintendo have confirmed that Disaster: Day of Crisis will be hitting Europe next month.
Yesterday we brought you over 90 new screenshots for the long-delayed Disaster: Day of Crisis, which was first revealed at E3 2006. Today, Nintendo of Europe confirmed earlier leaks with the announcement that Disaster will be striking in Europe next month.
Disaster sees you in control of Raymond Bryce, a retired US marine and former operative of the International Rescue Team, who is brought back into action to defuse the threat of ex-military terrorist cell SURGE, who have kidnapped a leading seismologist and his assistant to determine when an earthquake will strike in order to use it as a diversion to steal nuclear weapons. However, things become personal when Ray finds out that the assistant is Lisa, the sister of Ray's former partner who lost his life in the line of duty.
Ray? Ray?! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Ray must fight his way through 23 different stages, overcoming a barrage of natural disasters including earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, floods and volcanic eruptions as well as the threat of SURGE. Ray will search for survivors and use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk intuitively to take part in shoot-outs, driving sequences and quick-time events. Progressing will earn Ray Survival and Battle Points, which improve Ray's survival instincts during natural disasters and his ability to take down 'hard-as-nails bosses'.
By rescuing civilians (in one of yesterday's screenshots, we saw that Ray is able to perform CPR using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk), Ray earns Survival Points which can be distributed among five main skill areas including Strength, Firearms and Mental.
Ray will have to avoid an array of natural disasters and hazards such as hurricanes, floods, and volcanic eruptions (pictured).
When Ray encounters SURGE, the game switches into combat mode which is akin to an on-rails shooter. Use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to shoot down hostiles with a variety of firearms, earning Battle Points which allow you to upgrade your existing weapons and buy new ones.
Disaster: Day of Crisis is heading to the Wii on October 24th in Europe.
