News: Disney Gauging Interest for Epic Mickey 2

It looks Disney is already producing a sequel to 2010's Epic Mickey...

Disney is already fielding consumer interest for a sequel to the 2010 Wii-exclusive Disney Epic Mickey, if Destuctoid is to be believed. An online survey is asking how interested consumers would be in the aptly-titled Disney Epic Mickey 2, and while it is no substitute for an official announcement, it does seem to describe the project as though it is already in development.

The sequel is planned for Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3, and will apparently include 2-player split-screen play, with players taking on the role of either Mickey or Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. While it sounds like Mickey will have the same gameplay mechanics as in the original, Oswald will have the power to "fly like a helicopter" and use electricity to "fight or friend enemies and solve challenges".

Potential titles would include 'Epic Mickey 2: Return of the Mad Doctor', 'Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two', 'Epic Mickey 2: Mystery on Mean Street', and simply 'Epic Mickey 2'.

The first game was created by Junction Point Studios - the developer helmed by industry legend Warren Spector. There is no confirmation that Junction Point is working on this sequel, although Spector did state before Epic Mickey's release that he envisioned the game as the first of a trilogy.
