News: Disney Universe Officially Announced

Disney Interactive Studio has officially announced Disney Universe and released a trailer.

While rumours of a Disney cross-universe title first emerged last week it wasn't until yesterday's teaser trailer that it became official. Now Disney Interactive Studios has released an official statement along with a trailer.

Disney Universe is described as a "fast-paced multiplayer action adventure game" that sees players suit up as Disney and Pixar characters and embark on adventures across various different Disney landscapes, both animated and live action.

More than 40 costumes will be available to select that each contain their own unique abilities, with costumes from Lilo & Stitch, Monsters Inc., TRON and Alice in Wonderland featured in the trailer. Each of the worlds will feature missions based on the story lines of Disney and Disney Pixar films.

"Disney Universe is a vast treasure chest of Disney properties with memorable characters, places and experiences that gamers, as well as Disney fans will enjoy. The fast-paced, frenetic gameplay combined with wacky humor and hilarious situations make Disney Universe the perfect game to play with family and friends."
Adam Sussman, senior vice president of publishing, Disney Interactive Media Group.

It has been noted by GoNintendo that the Wii logo is missing from the UK trailer and website but present in European versions. We assume that Disney wouldn't exclude the UK but it is certainly odd. We'll keep you updated about this oddity but for now enjoy the (UK) trailer below.
