Doodle Hex

News: Doodle Hex Hitting DS This Halloween

Spanish developers Tragnarion are bringing spell-casting battle game Doodle Hex to the DS in time for Halloween. Full details inside...

Heading to the DS this Halloween is Doodle Hex, which makes innovative use of the handheld's touch screen abilities for clever spell-casting. Players nicknamed 'Doodlers' - are enrolled within the College of Runes, wherein you learn the intricacies of rune-casting, elemental magic and get to battle other students as you progress.

The title is a competitive turn-based spell-casting game where players use the DS stylus to draw their chosen runes in the centre of the touch screen, summoning spells that will transform, attack and weaken their opponent. The ultimate idea of the game is to deplete your rival's energy bar before they can do the same to you.

The game uses a stunning comic book-effect interface, and provides a two-player head to head mode, 14 characters each with their own specialist field in rune use, over 250 available challenges and a wide range of unlockable bonuses. The developers are calling it "one of the most innovative and playable puzzle games" on the DS to date, citing its simple interface and huge number of runes to master. We'll be providing gameplay videos of the rune-casting action plus a full review very soon. Stick with N-Europe for more!
