have posted new information and screens of Encore Software's upcoming game, Dragon's Lair 3D.
Encore Software handed us these screenshots that "are for the PlayStation2 and GameCube versions, which will be virtually identical." The game, being developed by Dragonstone Software, is a unique cel-shaded game. You may recall hearing about this game as it was the world's first full-animation video game. You'll be glad to know that Rick Dyer, Christopher Stone and Don Bluth, and Gary Goldman - the original Dragon's Lair game designer, composer and animators, respectively - are active members of the Dragon's Lair 3D development team. They also mentioned that they'll be demoing the game at E3 and the game will be "fairly well along" by the time of the show.
Game Features:
- True control over Dirk, who alone has more than 150 animation sequences
- 43 areas within the castle to explore - for the first time, in 3D
- More than 250 rooms to explore, many of them brand new
- Close to 40 different characters, from Cyclops Worms and the Grim Reaper to the Fire Goon Warriors
- Over a dozen new characters, including the Lightning Drake
- Realistic and amazingly fluid animation with a unique animated cel look
- Power-ups, hidden secrets and special unlocks
- Brand-new intro and ending movies, evoking the look of the original arcade game, hand animated by Don Bluth
- 60 original music scores
- Dolby™ Surround Sound (Prologic)
There will also be Dragon's Lair 3D action figures alongside launch of the game, which will be available this fall.
