News: Dragon Quest Not Abandoning Consoles

The creator of Dragon Quest affirms his commitment to home console-based entries...
The conservative RPG behemoth Dragon Quest has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent years, not least thanks to the worldwide success of the last two main entries. Dragon Quest IX on DS marked the first handheld-developed main-series game, and it duly did very lucrative business across the world, setting various sales records in Japan and shifting a handy million copies in the US and Europe alone.
IX's success raises the question of whether the series will now take a turn towards the handheld market. GamesRadar put the question to Dragon Quest's creator Yuji Horii:
"No, the series got its start on consoles, so we aren't thinking that way, especially since we're working on Wii versions of Dragon Quest right now."
What may be interesting is Horii stating that Wii versions of the game are in development. Officially, only one Wii Dragon Quest title is scheduled for future release: the much-anticipated Dragon Quest X. Is there a mistranslation at play here? A misunderstanding, perhaps? Or more?
