News: Dragons Beat Mario Tennis in Japan

Mario's latest sporting latest is kept off the top spot by Capcom's Dragon's Dogma...

The latest Media Create charts are out, and this week shows a much-needed injection of new titles into the top 20.

Nintendo rolled out another 3DS hit in the form of Mario Tennis Open, and the game managed to plant its flag in the number two spot. It was a fairly modest opening, and game didn't quite match the debut of the Gamecube iteration, but it should show some relatively decent legs.

The top spot was reserved for Capcom's long-awaited epic Dragon's Dogma. Capcom has set some pretty lofty commercial expectations for the title, so its strong opening will be music to the publisher's ears.

An unusually high number of new titles broke up the familiar faces, with Kid Icarus Uprising finally dropping out of the top 20. Don't be surprised to see it jump back in next week.

Here is the software chart for the week of May 21st to 27th.

With a slew of new releases, sales across the hardware board are up. Who'd have thunk it? Wii and 360 sales rise, but they're no match for the might of Vita. 3DS continues to boringly dominate things at the top.
