News: DS Leads November US Sales

The DS is rolling in the US as well, leading all platform sales in the month of November.
Research firm NPD's US sales results for the month of November are in. Despite release of Nintendo's Wii and Sony's Playstation 3, the DS claimed overwhelming victory in yet another market with sales exceeding 900k units. Second in sales for the month was the PS2 followed, surprisingly, by the never-say-die Gameboy Advance.
While the Wii and PS3 essentially sold out of every last available unit, the discrepancy in available launch units was a major eye-opener. Sony, despite angling for a 400k system rollout, actually delivered less than half that. This indeed may have helped, at least in small part, to drive sales of Microsoft's XBox 360. The 360 finished with over a half-million consoles sold during November.
Also of significant note, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess sold over 400k copies. In other words, roughly 4 of every 5 new Wii owners made Hyrule one of their chief destinations - an impressive attach ratio.
And now, a (somewhat) handy chart:
No. | Console | Month Sales |
---|---|---|
1 | Nintendo DS Lite | 918,000 |
2 | PlayStation 2 | 664,000 |
3 | Game Boy Advance (combined) | 641,000 |
4 | Xbox 360 | 511,000 |
5 | Wii | 476,000 |
6 | PlayStation Portable | 412,000 |
7 | PlayStation 3 | 197,000 |
