News: DS Sales Reach 7 Million Mark In Europe

That's a lot of screens!

Is there no end to the emphatic Nintendo DS sales? Sales don't appear to be slowing down any time soon. Even in its native homeland of Japan, sales were as strong as ever, regardless of the fact a new Playstation was on the market for consumers to throw their money at.

Numbers are strong, and we have just received word that sales in Europe have surpassed the seven million mark. Not only that, but there are six titles which have broken the million sales barrier.

Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros have all reached about 1.5 million sales in Europe. Animal Crossing and Brain Training sales are also around the million mark. However, the clear winner is Nintendogs, which has racked up over four million units in Europe alone.

"We are delighted by the success of the Nintendo DS and DS Lite and especially pleased to see that we have exceeded the one million mark with games that appeal to both non-gamers and traditional gamers," said Laurent Fischer, Nintendo's Euro marketing director.

"Nintendo is proud of its role in expanding the gaming market and we hope to continue this success with the launch of the Wii in Europe this December," he added.

Who knows when Nintendo will be hitting the next big milestone. It surely can't be that far away now.
