According to Asia Pulse Buisnesswire Nintendo surpassed the initially expected 2 million mark for shipments of DS's. Worldwide Nintendo shipped a largely greater number of 2.8 million DS consoles.

"Almost all of them had been sold through retailers up by the time the New Year's holidays ended" said the company.
