Nintendo's latest handheld gets off to a flying start in Blighty!

It only hit stores on Friday, and already Nintendo have a reason for trumpeting DSi as a success. In just 2 days, the �150 console sold 92,000 units in the UK, making it the nation's fourth fastest-selling console of all time, behind Wii, PS3 and PSP.

In those 2 days, DSi sold more than the original DS did in its first week in 2005 and well over double what DS Lite managed in its first seven days on shelves. The full week figures for DSi will make for some very interesting reading indeed. Nintendo's James Honeywell had this to say:

"We are pleased with the initial performance of DSi over its first two days. However, a launch is just the beginning and we will continue to work hard throughout the year to try and maintain this positive start for the platform. We were also pleased to see DS Lite maintained strong sales during DSi launch and that people see that both consoles have something to offer them."
