News: EA and Sega?

It seems we can't go a week without another possible merger with Sega, this time Electronic Arts.

Sega's president Hisao Oguchi has confirmed that Sega and Electronic Arts are in talks about a possible partnership. The partnership would help Sega's sales in American and EA's sales in Japan.

The idea of these two companies has appeared many times and some speculate that besides the failed mergers with Sammy and Namco, Sega was consider the merger.

The agreement wont be a full merger but more of a partnership in sales and is similar to what EA and Square have done in the past. The agreement would allow Sega to sell better in North America while EA would sell better in Japan with the help of their partner's markets.

The companies however both have a strong line of sports titles that would directly compete. One possible solution would be for Sega to stop producing these games to utilize EA's brand name.
