News: EA announces freeriding game

EA Sports BIG, EA's extreme label, has announced that they're working on a game based on freeriding.

Freeriding began in the early '90s, when people looking for a enw adventure began building twisted trails in the mountains just north of Vancouver, British Columbia. A typical track includes boulder-strewn inclines, elevated hairpin turns and 20-foot drops.
The sport isn't extremely popular yet, though EA hopes it will be when the GameCube game comes out, early next year.

The game will be a character-based adventure with a head-to-head racing mode and multiple bikes. All characters will be fictional. The main character will interact heavily with others and have a mentor and at least one major opponent. EA Canada executive producer Steve Rechtschaffner said the game will also contain 'RPG elements' and will be "a platformer as much as it is a sports game".

Levels and graphics will be fairly realistic, though any screenshots havn't been shown yet. EA promises to provide artwork and an official game name at E3 in May.

We will definitely keep you updated on this one.
